Plastic Surgeons vs. Cosmetic Surgeons

Hundreds of thousands of women and men in the US benefit every year from a variety of plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures. Most of these procedures are primarily performed for aesthetic reasons, which makes it all the more crucial that patient safety should be the topmost priority in such procedures. To a large extent, safety aspect can be ensured with the right selection of the surgeon who will perform the procedure.

Dr. Wright Jones is a well-known plastic surgeon who is highly qualified and trained to perform various procedures related to the breast, body and face. Dr. Jones’ expertise has also been widely recognized for ethnic surgeries. He constantly updates himself with the latest advancements in the field of surgery in order to provide the best solutions to his patients. Dr. Jones receives patients from Atlanta, Buckhead, Stockbridge, Marietta GA, and surrounding communities.

Organized Plastic Surgery

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) as well as some of the key societies in each state are dedicated to the cause of improving success rates in plastic surgery and supporting patient education. New patients should learn about new procedures and techniques, and various attributes that a good surgeon should have. This can help them in the process of making the right choice of a surgeon for their needs.

Patients need to make discerning choices because some of the surgeons may lack the requisite qualifications or training in plastic surgery, while still presenting themselves as cosmetic or plastic surgeons. Dr. Wright Jones is a pre-eminent cosmetic surgeon providing state of the art procedures for the breast, body, and face. Patients in Atlanta, Buckhead, Stockbridge, Marietta GA, and nearby areas have an opportunity to receive treatments from Dr. Jones.

Boost to the Cause of Patient Awareness

The ASPS, ABPS, and the Utah Plastic Surgery Society (UPSS) recently earned a significant legal victory in their efforts to promote patient awareness about choosing the best plastic surgeon for their needs. A local court had previously dismissed a lawsuit challenging the validity of the patient awareness campaign supported by these organizations. Now the 10th District US Courts of Appeals in Denver, CO has also upheld that dismissal.

The lawsuit had claimed that the patient education campaign run by these societies was causing a loss of business to the non-plastic surgeons. The appellate court’s decision to maintain the dismissal is a crucial victory for organized plastic surgery. The victory also serves a reaffirmation of the ‘Do Your Homework’ public awareness campaign led by the ASPS to improve patient safety.

The campaign had encouraged people to choose an appropriately qualified plastic surgeon for their needs, and not go for surgeons who may not actually have the requisite qualifications or skills. The Appeals Court decided that the defendants had not indulged in any deceptive advertising, and confirmed the previous ruling.

Patients must be aware enough to be in a position to distinguish a qualified plastic surgeon from other lesser trained surgeons who might present themselves as equally qualified.
